The Maison Michaud Ecomuseum, located at the heart of the Cives combe, is an old 17th century “Tuyé” farm. It has been turned into a museum in order to recount the lives of its inhabitants who lived self-sufficiently and had to adapt to the difficult climate in the Jura mountains.

Throughout your visit, which you can do alone or be guided, you will roam around the farm starting with the agricultural areas, followed by the living areas. In the first zone, you will discover the agricultural methods and specific equipment used at that time, as well as the crafts activities done during the winter, wooden shingle roof covering, as well as its natural environment including peat bogs and another more unusual activity: smuggling. In the second section, you will walk around the furnished living areas and dive into the inhabitants’ daily lives during this period.

The museum is suitable for both adults and children. A circuit with games helps young audiences become involved.

In addition to the visit, know-how demonstrations and workshops are organised (weaving, macramé, land’art, gardening, insect houses, herbarium, bread-making, brioche-making, butter-making, and concoillotte cheese-making, etc.). You will learn more about the Jura’s territorial wealth, natural and cultural heritage.

The museum’s employees are passionate about sharing their passion for the region with you and they strive to maintain and promote this Tuyé farm through activities that highlight both the region’s cultural and vernacular heritage and its natural heritage.
